If you have ever experienced an ingrown toenail, then you know that it can become so painful that it’s difficult to wear certain shoes and can limit your activities. Even pressure from bed sheets can keep you up at night!  Many have tried trimming out the ingrown border only to make it worse. If not taken care of properly, an ingrown toenail can become infected, requiring oral or intravenous antibiotics!

Some causes of ingrown nails are improper trimming, tight fitting shoes, deviated/abnormal toe position, injury to a nail, deformed and fungal nails.

Ingrown toenails are one of the most common problems we treat at the Westwood Foot Clinic in Golden Valley.  There is no reason for you to suffer from an ingrown toenail when it can be permanently corrected with a quick, simple office procedure that can be done on your initial visit.  If you or someone you care about is suffering with a painful ingrown toenail then click here or call (763)231-2341 now to permanently get rid of your ingrown toenail.  Same or next day appointments are often available.

Deformed toenails and toenails with a fungus infection can be painful, ugly and embarrassing. They can become so thick that they are difficult or impossible to trim yourself.  A deformed toenail is often caused by an injury to the nail or from pressure against the nail from a bent, contracted or rotated toe.  Deformed nails will often develop a fungal infection causing discoloration and separation of the nail from the underlying skin.  Ingrown toenails are also commonly seen with deformed toenails & nail fungus.

A thick, deformed toenail often needs to be permanently removed. This is a simple office procedure that can be done on your initial visit. Once healed, the toe often looks quite normal with just an outline of the toenail that can even be covered with toenail polish if desired.

At the Westwood Foot Clinic in Golden Valley, MN we have a number of treatment options for toenail fungus, including oral or topical medication, permanent removal of nails or regular professional trimming.

Diabetic and elderly patients, especially those with poor circulation, often have very thick, deformed toenails with fungal infections that they or family members are not able to trim. Besides becoming painful, these nails can cause sores, ulceration or infection. If health and/or circulation problems prevent permanent removal of a deformed or fungus toenail, then we are able to provide professional toenail care.  Most patients requiring this care are usually seen every 2-4 months and often covered by insurance.

If you are having problems with deformed toenails or toenail fungus, an appointment at the Westwood Foot Clinic in Golden Valley is needed to determine the ideal treatment plan to get your toenails looking and feeling healthy again.  Click here or call (763) 231-2341 now.

Thank you for the EXCELLENT care you gave today to my mother, Vivian.  Then on top of that you answered a question I have had about my foot for at least a decade-and then you even helped me with my calluses!  We are patients for life!  Thank you!!! – JUDY

Toenails are easily injured as they get bumped, stubbed, stepped on and have things drop on them.  This can result in a painful blood blister under the nail, a separated or loose nail plate, ingrown toenail borders or even permanent deformity of the toenail.

Toenail injuries (as well as toe injuries) are common problems treated by Dr. Silver at the Westwood Foot Clinic in Golden Valley, MN.  Whether it’s an acute injury to the toenail or a problem that develops over time secondary to an injury, we can help you.  We can determine the best treatment option for you so that you can be back to regular activities as quickly as possible.  Don’t delay treatment for a toenail problem (or toe injury) any longer! Click here or call (763) 231-2341 now for an appointment at the Westwood Foot Clinic in Golden Valley.

Corns and calluses are some of the most common foot problems successfully treated by Dr. Thomas Silver at the Westwood Foot Clinic in Golden Valley, MN. We are able to provide help when trimming, filing and store bought remedies gave only temporary or no relief. Corns and calluses can become painful, making it difficult to wear certain shoes or do activities comfortably. They can also become as source of open sores or infection, especially in those with diabetes, arthritis or circulation problems.

Corns and calluses are areas of thick skin that form from repeated friction and pressure around toes and on the balls of the feet.  This can be caused by an imbalanced foot structure, the position or shape of the toes, or from certain shoes.

At the Westwood Foot Clinic, we have various options available to treat painful corns and callus and will work with you to determine the best treatment options. Some corns and calluses can be corrected permanently with a simple minimally invasive office procedure. For those with poor circulation, severe arthritic deformities or other health problems, treatment may consist of temporary relief by trimming pressure corns and calluses on a regular basis.  We also have special gel cushions, pads, toe separators and stretch or extra depth shoes available that can help too. For some, prescription foot orthotics may be necessary to realign the feet and reduce or eliminate pressure spots.

If you or someone you care about is suffering with painful corns and/or calluses, click here or call the Westwood Foot Clinic in Golden Valley at (763) 231-2341 for an appointment.
