Are you tired of dealing with warts?  Then we have the solution for you!

At the Westwood Foot Clinic in Golden Valley, we have a cutting-edge treatment for warts that is especially effective in eliminating resistant plantar warts (warts on the bottom of the feet).

Plantar warts - a common and stubborn viral infection

Like all warts, plantar warts are caused by a virus.  You can catch it anywhere that you have walked barefooted where others have been. On the surface it may form hard skin and is often mistaken for a callus. Underneath the hard skin, the wart has hair-like roots that reach down, grow and spread, making them very difficult to treat effectively from the surface.  That is why conventional treatments such as freezing or chemical application often fail.  Warts tend to multiply rapidly, spread and are contagious to others in your household. Plantar warts can become painful as they grow into normal skin causing pressure when walking and standing.

What is the Swift wart treatment?

Swift is a cutting edge, FDA Cleared technology that has proven to be highly effective in getting rid of plantar warts. It delivers low dose microwave energy through a specialized probe that targets and effectively drives the wart virus into the deeper tissue thus stimulating a natural immune response in your body. We like to say that we’re addressing the root cause, not the symptom.

What to expect

Swift treatment involves 2 to 4 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart, aligning with the body’s natural immune cycle. Each treatment typically lasts only 5-10 minutes.  There is little to no trimming, no break in the skin, no needles and no cutting, freezing or chemicals.  Also, no home care or dressing changes are required between treatments.  Patients are able to resume daily activities immediately after treatment, which is prefect for active people!

How effective is this treatment?

Treatments are typically about 85% or more effective in eliminating warts.  Due to Swift harnessing the power of the patient’s immune system to target the root cause of the wart, this treatment has a significantly higher success rate compared to other treatment methods with a significantly lower recurrence rate.

Does it hurt?

Most patients typically feel some level of discomfort as the microwave heats the wart tissue. This heat drives the wart virus deep into the tissue so the body can detect the virus and create an immune response.  The tissue heats rapidly and any discomfort typically feels sharp for a split second then immediately subsides.  There is minimal if any post procedure discomfort and all patients can continue with normal day-to-day activities (including sports) immediately following treatment.

When should you come to see us?

It’s important to visit Dr. Silver at the Westwood Foot Clinic if you suspect that you have a plantar wart or have warts that have not responded to prior home or professional treatment. The longer you wait to seek treatment, the more likely the warts will persist, get larger and spread.

Common symptoms to look out for:

  • You see or feel a patch of hard, round skin, often with overlying callused skin with black dots in it.
  • You see a circular flat spot on the skin especially when you compress the skin from the sides.
  • A skin growth that becomes painful, changed color, bleeds when trimmed or is multiplying.
  • You have tried multiple professional and/or home treatments that have not worked.
  • Discomfort that prevents you from doing regular activities.
  • If you notice any skin growth on your feet.
